New TCHD Site Progress
New Building Updates
The health department purchased the building at 617 W. Main St. from the City of Elkton in the summer of 2015.
Delta Regional Authority Grant
Since its purchase, we have applied for and received a $100,000 grant from the Delta Regional Authority to complete renovations of the existing building. Matching funds of $50,000 where supplied by the Todd County Board of Health. The renovations include the creation of 4 offices spaces, a conference area, a storage area, and renovation of 3 existing office spaces. Akins Construction from Franklin, KY are the contractors who won the bid for the project. The renovation is projected to be completed by the end of January.
Board of Health Funding
After the purchase of the building, the Board of Health purchased tables for the existing board room to provide a meeting place for the board, staff, and other community coalitions. The Todd County Board of Health will be renovating the existing board room, kitchen, and 2 bathrooms in the building. These renovations will include cosmetic changes to the paint, flooring, and cabinetry.
Community Development Block Grant
The Todd County Board of Health, with the help of the Pennyrile Area Development District, has applied for CDBG Funding to construct an addition to the current building. The current building is slightly smaller than the health department’s current location at 205 McReynolds Dr. The addition will contain a waiting room, registration area, restrooms, medical records storage, and a clinic. The Todd County Board of Health will also provide matching funds for this project. With our new space, we hope to increase the number of programs we offer to the community. An announcement has yet to be made about this grant.
