School Health

Nurse holding a stethescope, text: school health

What is it?

A collaboration with the district to provide health care services to ALL Todd County students and staff with little to no out-of-pocket costs. Students with acute illnesses or injuries are assessed and treated (within the scope of practice).

Where is it?

There is a Registered Nurse (RN) in each of the 4 schools in the district. There is also an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who may be able to see your child at any school!

What does it provide?

APRN Services

  • Yearly Wellness Exams
  • School physicals
  • Sports physicals
  • Sick visits and treatment

RN Services

  • In school acute care visits with over-the-counter medication treatment
  • Immunizations to ensure compliance with Kentucky immunization requirements
  • Daily medication administration (with a Prescription for Daily Meds Consent Form)
  • Vision screenings
  • Hearing screenings
  • Dental screenings/Fluoride varnish applications
  • Flu vaccines
  • Rapid Testing (Flu, Strep, Covid-19)

How do I use it?

Complete your annual consent form in your Back-to-School packet.

If your child gets sick during the school day, a teacher may submit a referral to the school nurse. The school nurse may assess, treat and return the student to class. If the school nurse determines further care is needed, the nurse may contact the guardian or refer to the student to the APRN.
